Are TOI Movie ratings any good??

Its a well known fact that Times of India (TOI) is no good from english perspective(can read CAT). In India where every week many movies are released and it is impossible to watch all of them. So comes the necessity to chose and hence we need to know how good or bad a movie is. The movie reviews are the thing that are supposed to help us. The thing that strikes me is the consistency with which TOI gives 4/5 stars to movies which not even deserve two stars. There is long line of such movies like James, Shiva, Kaminay, Dev-D to name a few which all got rave reviews but according to me didnt deserve those ratings. I doubt if these ratings are geniune or are they biased (using money power). The irony is that not only bad movies get good ratings but also some better movies get bad rating which directly effects the viewership of these movies.
The case with me is that I never chose to watch a movie which gets more than 3 stars and more often than not its a good decision. The bottomline is that TOI movie ratings are total bakwaas and you can never ever trust them to choose a movie.

KIT, Tiptur (September 2003)

21 September 2003,
This was the day that the wonderful period of my life started. I reached the campus this day and went for my hostel with a mind full of doubts about the college, the people I will meet, who will be my roompartner, how will i face ragging etc.
I entered the hostel and was told that i was allocated room no. 49 and my room partner was a guy who will be known as Chacha from now on. So I went to my room and saw that everyone was in a room sitting with a senior who was telling us about the college and place.
I went ahead and shook hands with chacha and went to take a bath and freshen up after 50 hrs of gruelling journey.
After the seniors left I had a brief round of introdution to the guys who were there KK, Manjhhi , Chacha, GK, Nish and Bips were the first persons I met. Never knew that I will miss them so much, later in life.
In the evening we went in the ground to play cricket and got some instructions about dress code and do's and dont's and also an idea about what life was going to be till we got freshers.

The classes started the next day followed by visits to hair saloons some ragging sessions and getting to know the people around.

There were some people who came late and this gave us the opppurtunity. Me, GK and Nish acted as seniors and took ragging of some of the new comers we were lucky that no one told the seniors about that.

Those initial days laid the foundation for lifelong friendship. I still remember eating Alu's namkin.
Sitting all day in room no. 50 eventually people started telling me that you are wasting money by paying hostel fee when you are never in your room.

In those days some wonderful things happened which I will tell about later....

From 2 nd School to College....(1995 to 2003)

I had to leave my first school and join another school after class 5th. This was here I met some really amazing people and teachers from whom I learned a lot. I still remember some of the phrases that now seem to be so true. I will mention some of them

"A person who cant be on time can do nothing in Life"

''The first step towards success is attaining control of your mind"

"You can fight everything but your luck"

As for luck many people dont beleive in luck but some of the happening in my life have made me to believe in luck.

Now going back to my second school, this was the place I fell in love with sports specially Footy and cricket. The games periods were awaited eagerly. Evening practice sessions became a pat of life. The thrill of playing for your House Team with people shouting in your support. Memories of those football and cricket tournaments still make me smile. We all enjoyed a lot in school but finally the school ended.

Two years that followed were a mix of things preparing for various Entrance Exams, Parents Scolding for not being serious, Innumerable Cricket matches we played, Evening strolls followed by Pani puri, Rabri and Pandit ji ki Matar.

Finally got admission in one of the colleges and this was the best time of my life and the following parts will talk more about the events.
