KIT 3rd Year

The inevitable happened and we came back from home. Rather rushed back from home even before the scheduled time of opening.

The semester opening were always eventful with some coming early and some coming late bringing in treats from home which they never got to eat.

This was the year when we came on our own. We were the people of our own will and felt nothing could make us do what we didn't want to. The trips to classrooms became more and more sparse and time spent on "Malli Shop" increased exponentially. The 4th Semester was marked with bullying lecturers to get our way with them, trying micro Xerox to get good marks in internals, trying to get the papers before hand escaping the mechanical block through the tennis court to escape from the principal and many more.

This was the year in which the campus placements had to start, being in mechanical engineering we had very limited options and only few companies allowed it. However as luck would have it the first company that came to campus allowed mechanical engineering students to sit for the placement and guess what me and my good friend Bips got through (Though I regret the same now). After campus life became cool and no classes nothing and it was parties all the way along till the year got over. People would come happy or sad from various interviews but as u have it they can never be in bad mood with good friends around.

One of the things that I remember is that this was the year when the college decided not to sponsor the football team for the VTU tournament. Left with know option I tried my hand on cricket and to my surprise even after all these years I was good enough to get through. We also tried to organize the college fest on our own but that ended up badly with seniors taking over. This was the time I made some new friends through various modes. People who were complete strangers but became very close. Lot of time spent on gossips on cellphone and chatting on social networking sites and it was fun. Me and Rajesh were really active on social networking sites and were infamous for the same.

This semester also ended with me being relieved from the tension of job search and went home looking forward for the final and last year of Engineering. This was the time we all started feeling a bit bored and wanted things to end soon only later we would realize how stupid we were.

One of the other memorable event of this year was our unplanned trip to Goa.

Actually what happened was every department was going for a outing except mechanical engineering as there were no girls there, no one was really interested in going out.
It all started on the day the CS people were scheduled to go to Goa for the outing and we were out Me, KK   and some other people sitting and discussing how much fun these people were going to have, in between someone suggested why cant we go by ourselves to Goa and have fun. The list of probable candidates who may join us was made then and there. It was decided we can leave by 10:30 PM train in about 3 hours from the current time. We went to hostel and started gathering people some of the people from CS withdrew from the official trip to join us and it came to around 28 people joining us for the trip. We didn't plan earlier so had to go by general coach in the train and we hardly slept. After train we had to change and then reached Goa in the next day morning. We roamed around a bit and then went for cruise that day and spent the next day visiting famous places. In the evening we had to return, but I was so much happy to be there that I declared I am not going back and will be staying even if I had to stay alone and finally was able to convince some 10 people to stay back with us we stayed two more days and had much more fun than the last two days. This Goa trip left us craving for more and we decided that we needed to return to Goa very soon.

KIT Second year

Here I am back yet again to continue writing about my life at college

The first year went by and I made some really good friends with ragging over people started trusting each other a bit more, those little arguments over nothing, those gossips at tea stalls, the weekends visits to KC were all so much fun.

In my first year I thought I would be ragging my juniors a lot but as things are we didn't have many juniors and at the end of it I was not even in the mood for it.

Studies in second year took a back seat and fun took the driver's. We enjoyed a lot there were lot of things that kept on happening. The cricket matches everyday evening and weekends kept us fresh and away from boredom.

The eventful thing of the second year has to be the organisation of freshers party for our juniors. It took a lot there was some misunderstanding with the seniors and there was a large rift and it seemed quite possible that seniors may not even join in the party. However in the end everything was sorted out and it was done in a grand was. We also got our internals postponed for the same, thanks to the awesome mechanical engineering faculty.

The days went on and it was year end and to our surprise we didn't even want to go home. It seemed the college and hostel became our shell. It became a place where we found peace and solace. It was a place where I felt free from the burden of life (realized at a later stage in Life).

I got my first and only backlog in this year and that too in a paper I was very confident so much that I came out in 2.5 hrs only and thought I am going to pass easily but thanks to the magical marking scheme of VTU(Very Tough University) the results were a shock to most of us as more than 2/3 of the class flunked.
The effort it took for giving and preparing for three papers back to back was nothing short of Herculean and left me drained. The more the degree progressed the more laid back and stress free we became in life.
We felt like kings with nothing to worry about.

This was also the time when I started reading a lot, I started reading anything and everything I can get my hands onto and this habit was something that has helped me a lot improving my vocabulary, reading speed, appreciation of language and not to mention the comfort level with the language.

This year also I went with the football team for VTU Bangalore Zone tournament and again we got a drubbing against a not very good team thanks to some sloppy display by my seniors.

Finally time came for the last exam of the 2nd year and to go home.
